Monitoring & Adjustments

Moisture Content: Aim for compost moisture levels to be similar to a wrung-out sponge. If too wet, add more dry carbon material (wood chips, corn stalks or straw); if too dry, add water during turning.

Temperature Monitoring: Ensure temperatures reach between 130°F and 160°F to effectively break down materials and kill pathogens.

Odor and Aeration: Bad odors may indicate anaerobic conditions. More frequent turning or additional carbon material may be necessary to reintroduce oxygen.

TREAT

  • Application rates are based on overall experience and concentrated organic matter liquefaction and breakdown
  • Individual situations may require more or less product to give satisfactory results
